Elevator wire ropes are composed of rope strands, rope strand wires and rope cores. Elevator wire rope is made of single strands twisted in a spiral shape around a rope core. Usually, 50-65 high-quality carbon steel or 60Si2Mn steel wire is used. For safety reasons, the elevator wire rope uses special number or No. 1 steel wire, and the diameter of the steel wire is limited to 0.3~1.3mm. Commonly used elevator traction wire ropes include Xilu type (X type) and Wallington type (W type).

The elevator wire rope takes a Passenger Elevator with a rated load of 1000kg as an example. The traction wire rope adopts 8X (19)-16-140 right cross, where 8 is the number of rope strands, The number of steel wires, 16 is the nominal diameter of the steel wire rope (mm), 140 is the tensile strength of the steel wire rope (kgf/mm2), the right cross is the steel wire twisted in the rope strand and the rope strand is twisted in the right cross direction in the rope. Domestic traction wire ropes are all right-handed.

The rope core supports and fixes the position of the rope strands to improve the contact between the rope wires, slow down the impact load, and acts as an oil reservoir to provide an oil source for long-term lubrication of the wire rope, so that the wires are well lubricated. .

3. Structure and characteristics of Xilu type (X type) wire rope

The cross-section of the elevator wire rope is 1+9+9, that is, the core plus the first layer and the second layer are composed of a total of 19 steel wires: 1 center steel wire, ф1.2mm, 9 inner steel wires, ф0.6mm, There are 9 outer steel wires ф1.05mm. The outer wire diameter is larger than the inner wire diameter, so it is also called outer thick steel wire rope. Its characteristics: ① The number of inner and outer steel wires in each strand is the same, but the diameters are different. The outer layer is embedded in the notch of the inner layer. The lay length of the multiple layers of steel wires is equal. The structure is tight and firm, and it is not easy to uncoil. The outer layer of thick steel wire increases wear resistance, and the inner layer of thin steel wire improves flexibility and is conducive to mutual sliding when bending, thus improving the flexibility and service life of the steel wire rope.
